Zinc Picolinate
Question: Zinc picolinate? some sites say to take this with food otherwise i will feel funny if taken on an empty stomach which i have because thats what it says on the bottle. so why am i feeling funny? and what is really the best way to take it?
Answer: Introduction
Zinc is an important mineral, essential for the health of your reproductive organs and for cellular function. It also helps strengthen your immune system and prevent acne, and is necessary for the function of a number of enzymes.
Instructions
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Steps
1Step OneTake a zinc supplement in the form of zinc picolinate - it is considered the best.
2Step TwoTake zinc separately from other minerals, especially iron, copper, manganese and calcium. They may interfere with zinc absorption.
3Step ThreeCheck the quality of your tap water. Hard water can upset zinc levels.
4Step FourAssess the amount of grains and legumes that you eat. They contain a substance called phytate, which binds with zinc and prevents absorption.
5Step FiveSpeak with your doctor if you have kidney disease, chronic diarrhea, diabetes or liver disease. You may need additional zinc supplements.
6Step SixAssess how much fiber you consume. High fiber can cause zinc to be excreted from your body.
Tips & Warnings
Foods high in zinc include egg yolks, fish, kelp, mushrooms, oysters, soy lecithin, soybeans and lima beans.
Do not take more than 100mg per day, unless otherwise directed by your doctor. High doses can depress the immune system and lead to side effects such as nausea, vomiting and dizziness.
If you are taking prescription medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding supplements to your diet.
Question: where do they sell zinc picolinate? where do they sell zinc picolinate locally? like walmart, cvs, albertsons? respond asap. thank you.
Answer: Is this a diabetes question? I've never heard of this supplement.
Question: zinc and zinc picolinate? What is the difference? Also would you suggest chlorella or spirulina for general well being?
Answer: ok so zinc is the actual mineral, but minerals rarely exist in nature purely so they come 'bound' to something else, like to a carrier. Zinc picolinate is just one particular type of zinc, like zinc chelate, zinc gluconate etc.
Different types of zinc have different levels of absorbability; the picolinate form is excellently absorbed and used in the body.
As for spirulina, it contains small amount fo several nutrients so yes can be good for overall boost. Chlorella is more of an internal cleanser so is more suitable if you think you need a bit of a detox or cleanout.
Question: When you drink a glass of OJ, chuck full of potassium - 450mg, or take a zinc picolinate supple.....? ment, or use canning salt (true NaCl) these foods will contribute to increasing your pH. It is a fact that potassium, magnesium, zinc and other minerals (not all minerals) are alkaline-forming minerals. What makes these minerals in food alkaline-forming? What form are these minerals in food? Since KOH and others dissolve in water how could KOH possibly make it to the cell without dissolving before hand, making it impossible for KOH to travel to the cell and into the cell, where it supposedly would dissolve increasing pH?
Answer: Well, NaCl does not affect the body's pH overall. However it is still involved in pH regulation as it is the source of sodium and chloride ions for sodium bicarbonate buffers in the duodenum and blood, and hydrochloric acid in the stomach.
The thing with potassium citrate (Orange Juice) or most other mineral salts of organic acids, is that these organic acids enter the Krebs cycle and the electron transport chain. If citric acid is represented by "C",
KC + HOH ---> K + OH- + HC
HC---> (Krebs cycle)----> H2O + CO2
(and possibly) CO2 + OH- ---> HCO3-
All these reactions occur in very dilute concentrations. So although there is K+ and OH- present, you can't really think of it as a KOH solution.
Throw in some enzymes and it gets even more complicated. The body can also partition basic and acidic components from neutral compounds (sodium chloride as I mentioned).

Question: vitamins Zinc Picolinate or L-Opti Zinc which one is better? which one of those form of zinc is better for acne, immune system etc.. i want to know which one is better absorb? and has anyone tried either. i kinda want to try the opti zinc because it has copper.. but i want the zinc that works better for skin and immune system
thanks
Answer: The ultimate answer for that would unfortunately depend on which one your system would absorb better. They are both very good and easily absorbed forms of Zinc and have maybe a 1-2% difference in the average absorption rate on their own so it's a negligible difference. However, you don't want to take higher doses of Zinc without some Copper in your diet (other multivitamin, supplement, or food) or your body will leech the Copper from elsewhere in your system. If you have no other copper and want to take a single pill, the L-Opti Zinc would be the better option only for that reason. Good luck and I hope I helped!
Question: Is it safe to take vitamin e, chromium picolinate, coenzyme q10 calcium magnesium zinc copper all at once? I heard they are all good for weight loss...these are the doses...
coenzyme q10 ...200mg
vitamin e.....2000mg
chromium picolinate....500-1000mg
calcium......1000mg
magnesium....400mg
zinc....15mg
copper 1mg
Thanks so much!
Answer: Except for the Vitamin E is it safe---actually, Co-enzyme 10 does not help reduce weight but it is an excellent vitamin for heart health. I've been taking it for years along with garlic and vitamin C and you should see my blood pressure!!--Always a svelte 110/68 or close to around that value. Co enzyme 10 is a powerful antioxidant and studies have proven that 100mg of CQ10 with 1000mg garlic and 500mg vitamin C reduces both, the upper and lower value of the blood pressure. In addition to that is it hailed as the anti-aging vitamin, but I am not so sure of that.
With Vitamin E you have to be careful not to overdose because too much can actually affect your retina in a negative way(that's what my ophthalmologist said). The rest of the vitamins is what you pretty much find in multivitamins, so it is pretty safe to take them all at the same time. My doc suggested that I take vitamins in the mornings instead of the evening because vitamins boost the energy.
If you want to lose weight effectively, I'd like to make a suggestion: eat 1/2 of a large grapefruit while drinking coffee in the mornings and if you like yogurt, eat plenty of that afterwards. I have lost plenty of weight and inches, especially on my belly just with the yogurt alone. Caffeeine is a natural fatburner(but only up to 7 cups per day are safe), and one of the best natural fat burners are grapefruit. Eating grapefruit and drinking coffee at the same time boosts the natural fat-burning ability of the grapefruit and I can tell you from personal experience that it works well. Yogurt has a tendency to clean out your digestive system which leads to additional weight loss and for some reason does it look to me(and others), that yogurt also burns belly fat. So give that a try for a month before you spend a lot of money on vitamins. I have been taking Co-enzyme 10 for years but did not lose weight with it--I also take Vitamin C for years without any weight loss!!
Any vitamins we take are considered medication by the medical community--weather it is prescribed drugs or vitamins or OTC drugs---they all are considered medication and should not be taken without consulting a doctor.
I had gone through some terrible vitamin A overdose with a resulting vitamin B deficiency and a possible lack of calcium, even though I took very good multivitamins. Some vitamins, if they build up in the body prevent the absorption of other vitamins and so we should be careful not to take them without a physicians consent and advice....good luck
Question: I was told that Zinc Picolinate is helpful in bringing down one's cholesterol numbers. Is this indeed true?
Answer: That's interesting. Zinc picolinate is great, but I haven't of it used to lower cholesterol.
You're better off eating oats, berries, artichokes and carob and taking supplements such as policosanol, lecithin (check that it's not genetically modified),psyllium husks, flaxseed meal, St Mary's thistle, bupleurum, burdock and dandelion root.

Question: which zinc supplement is best for treating acne? i've heard a mixture of things...first i heard chelated zinc worked best, but then i heard opti-zinc/ zinc monomethionine was best...and now theres zinc picolinate. what really works best? has anyone tried any of these and what were the results? also, what dosage do you take?
Answer: i wouldn't try any of those really.i would rather try the Murad acne supplements.they are only 30.00 dollars for a month.you can buy it online.it supplies you for about a month.you should try it because i am using it right now and i use to have bad acne you can say but now,i have beautiful skin because of those supplements and the 3-step regimen.you can just go www.murad.com and just got to the supplements section and you will find it.and plus it also has zinc in it.but, you shouldn't take any other vitamins because the supplements have vitamin A and ETC.because,if you take too much vitamin A.it can be toxic.and take 2 supplements morning after a meal so your stomach won't hurt and then take two more at night right after a meal.
Question: which zinc helps with ance the best? are there different types of zinc. ex. zinc picolinate, zinc chelate, zinc gluconate, zinc. which would be the best, and which one can i get locallly, i dont want to order it online.
Answer: In the UK we have something called; Zinc & Castor oil. It seems to work very well, and you might be able to get it here in the States.
Question: Is it OK to crush Zinc? I want to take 30mg of Zinc Picolinate per day to treat my HS (hidradenitis suppurativa). I went to the drugstore today but all I could find is pill form but I cannot swallow pills. I am willing to crush the pills to take them but I need to see if it is OK to do so. So is OK to crush Zinc?
Answer: I take zinc, ( unsure of the strength) for no particular reason with my effervescent vitamin c tablet each day. The zinc dissolves easily with the soluble vitamin c pill and I certainly have had no adverse affects whatsoever, quite the opposite. Crushing your tablet would have a similar affect to dissolving it so I would say 'crush' away.
Question: Which form of Zinc pills is the most absorbable, therefore, therapeutic? ? Zinc L-Monomethionine OR Zinc Picolinate OR Zinc Chelate
(regardless of its use.)
Answer: I use the L-monomethionine from Now Foods, called L-OptiZinc. It also has chelated copper to help avoid copper deficiency or imbalance one can bring on by long-term supplementation of Zinc. They are capsules, not tablets, which I believe also aids absorption. See here: http://www.nowfoods.com/?action=itemdetail&item_id=3016
In looking for some of the "studies" it seems every vitamin company claims (I didn't find any) I found an interesting site about zinc deficiency in DOGS that had info not found elsewhere: http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=2&articleid=718
My experience is that zinc gluconate lozenges are absorbable, but they also make me sick at my stomach.
Pretty good article here, by Dr. George Obikoya: http://www.vitamins-nutrition.org/vitamins/zinc.html
Question: Will there be harmful side effect in long term if I consume one zinc supplement capsule everyday? The zinc capsule composition is:
Zinc Picolinate 50mg
Zinc Gluconate 50mg
Cu Gluconate 8mg
Answer: Everthing you take is either filterd through the kidneys or liver.
You should make sure you know if anything else you are taking does not mix well.
Zinc also needs calcium, copper, phosphorus, vit b6 to aid in assimilatiom.
daily doses of 100 milligrams enhance the immune response, doses of more than 100mg can have the opposite and depress the immune system.
take iron and zinc at diffent times.
Question: What is the difference between Citrate, Gluconate, and Picolinate derivatives of vitamins? Is there a difference and if so, what is it?
I have a zinc deficiency and I have been prescribed to take a Zinc supplement.
Is there a difference between the three different kinds of Zinc?
If there is, please explain what it is and how it affects the absorption of Zinc, the concentration of Zinc, etc.
Thank you for help! ♥
